Records and Research

Public Access to court records

Case Summaries for cases that are public record.

The Records and Research Department maintains civil, family, felony, and delinquent tax files from the 1950's to the present. All records prior to 1952 are held at the Sam Houston State Univeristy Library.
You may request copies of a document by mail or in person. Copies (certified or not) are $1.00 per page (personal check (with DL# and 2 phone numbers), money orders, cashier's checks, or cash). To obtain copies from a sealed file you must first complete the "Request to Unseal Records" form. Upon Judge's approval you may receive only the copies requested.

Felony and Civil background searches are $5.00 per name. You may come in person or mail in a request with the name, date of birth, drivers license and a social security number along with your payment.

You can contact our research department by phone, mail or using the email us tab in the upper right of this page.
