Please read your summons thoroughly before appearing and bring the summons with you when you report for duty.
What if I am unable to register online? If you are unable to register online before your date, you will have the ability to do so when you come in for jury service. It will take longer to be checked in, so please arrive at least 30 minutes before your summons time.
Status of Jury: Check the status of the Jury (going or canceled) by calling this number: 936-435-8750, ext 6, After 3:00 p.m. the day BEFORE You are to be present.
We have a new system facilitating the Jury process in Walker County. Please be mindful of this as we work through any kinks.
Jurors are selected at random from a list of Walker County voter registrations and driver registrations. As a juror, you must be fair and impartial. Your actions and decisions must be free of any bias or prejudice. Your actions and decisions are the foundation of our judicial system. Any person charged with a criminal offense or any party to a civil case has a right to a jury trial. All parties are equal before the law and each is entitled to the same fair treatment.
Parking
Juror parking is limited at our complex, you may park along the sides of our building.
Answers to some of the questions you may have about Jury service:
- Please review the Texas Uniform Jury Handbook for exemptions and disqualifications.
- To be excused, exempted or to be disqualified you will need to contact this office or respond to the summons on the eResponse site. If you qualify for permanent exemption you may use the form at the bottom of this page.
- You may request to be rescheduled only ONCE from service. If you choose to be rescheduled, you MUST appear at the rescheduled date. You will received a new summons in the mail with your rescheduled date.
- If you have been called for jury service recently, you are not excused from another summons unless you actually served on a jury within the past year.
- If you are not a resident of Walker County, you are not eligible to serve as a juror in Walker County. Please contact our office at 936-435-8750, ext 5.
- If you have received the form for someone else, such as your child away at college or in the military or for someone who no longer lives with you or at your address, please have them respond using the eResponse site.
