Steve Fisher is currently a Captain/Jail Administrator for the Walker County Sheriff's Office. He began his career with the Walker County Sheriff's Office in 1989 as a jailer. He graduated from the Harris County Sheriff's Academy in March of 1991 as a Texas Peace Officer. He immediately began in the patrol division until he was promoted in 1994 as a detective. In 1999, he was promoted to Sergeant in the patrol division and then transferred in 2000 to supervise the criminal investigations division. In June 2005, he was promoted to Captain/Jail Administrator for the Walker County Jail. During his above career, he has also received his TCLEOSE Instructor license.
Since becoming the Jail Administrator, he has become a member of the Texas Jail Association (TJA). In 2007, he was appointed as Sergeant at Arms for the Texas Jail Association and in 2008 was appointed to a Board of Directors position to fill a vacated term. In May 2008, he was elected to the Board of Directors for a three year term. In May 2010, he was elected as Third Vice President for the Texas Jail Association and will become President in 2013.
He has been very involved with the Huntsville, Walker County community. He has participated in many programs with private organizations, churches, public and private schools, Sam Houston State University, Huntsville Boys Baseball Association and the Walker County Fair Association.
He currently serves on several committees and serves as a leader with the children's programs at Northside Baptist Church in Huntsville. Besides TJA, he also currently serves on the following boards: Walker County Special Utility District, Walker County Bail Bond Board, and Huntsville Leadership Institute.
